- Lead strategy formulation and implementation.
- Communicate strategy over and over.
- Ensure discipline, stick to the strategy, don’t allow diversions.
- Be in tune with changes to customers, markets, industry, and technology.
- Drive operational improvement (but don’t confuse it with strategy.)
